PCC Board of Trustees Election News

PCCFA-endorsed candidates for the Board of Trustees, Steve Gibson, Area 3, and Kristine Kwong, Area 5, have strong leads in Tuesday’s PCC Trustee’s election against their respective incumbents, Berlinda Brown and Linda Wah. In Area 7, Alton Wong slightly trails the incumbent, Tony Fellow.

Results as of June 9, 2022:

Mail ballots are arriving and are being counted.  Updates results are expected to be released this coming Friday and again next week.

PCC faculty members volunteered in door knocking, phoning, posting yard signs and penning post cards for the candidates. One volunteer said, “Talking with area residents is so gratifying. People [voters] are so appreciative of the work we do as teachers and our engagement in the political process. I got such nice feedback.”

“The strength of these results show voter support for change at PCC. Faculty vote of no confidence in the President. Now, we’ve heard from the voters,” remarked PCCFA President Mark Whitworth. “I thank the faculty who walked and called our voters. It made a difference.”

In addition to PCC faculty volunteers, FACCC, Faculty Association of California Community Colleges, activated their political action network by phone banking and canvassing for candidates. Also, other area unions supported FA endorsed candidates. Our colleagues at LACCD, Local 1521 of AFT, encouraged to their members residing in Areas 3, 5 & 7 to cast ballots for Gibson, Kwong, and Wang, respectively.

All mail ballots postmarked by June 7th and received within the week will be counted. Tallies will be updated Friday the 10th, and then again on Tuesday. Final certification of the election occurs 30 days after the election date.
