PCC FACULTY ASSOCIATION RECOMMENDS TOM SELINSKE FOR ELECTION TO THE PCC BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The PCC Faculty Association recommends Tom Selinske for election to the District 2 seat on the Pasadena Area Community College District Board of Trustees in the election on Nov. 3.

Selinske is a business owner with a long association with PCC who has served two terms on the board of the Pasadena Unified School District.

Faculty Association President Julie Kiotas said that in the past four years PCC has faced serious challenges, including sanctions by the accrediting agency and strained relations between board members, faculty, staff and administrators.

“We believe that Selinske will best serve the interests of students, faculty and the community on the Board of Trustees,” Kiotas said.

The Executive Board of the PCCFA voted to recommend Selinske to the voters after the candidates responded to a Faculty Association survey and expressed their views on issues facing the district at a candidates’ forum on Oct. 6.

Kiotas said, “Tom Selinske’s understanding of the needs of students and the contributions faculty, staff and administration make in meeting those needs made a convincing case that he’s the candidate of choice.”

The election of board members in Districts 2 and 4 will be held on Nov. 3.
